Austin Johnson Commits to Air Force
Soldotna Stars cornerback Austin Johnson has committed to play football at the United States Air Force Academy. Johnson, a Class of 2026 prospect, chose the Falcons over offers from several other service academies and FBS programs. The 3A All-State selection cited Air Force's unique triple-option offense as a key factor in his decision, noting that his skills as a cover corner and ball hawk will be a good fit for the Falcons' scheme. Johnson also praised the academy's academic program, which he believes will provide him with a solid foundation for his future. He plans to major in mechanical engineering. Johnson had previously committed to the University of Hawaii but decommitted in May after a coaching change. He attended the Falcons' summer camp in June and developed a strong relationship with the coaching staff. Johnson is expected to be a significant contributor on special teams and potentially in the secondary for the Falcons.
