FridayNightPulse: Tight End Drill for 4A Dominance

๐Ÿ“ Dimond LynxยทMonday, July 20, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At 4A programs like Dimond Lynx, tight ends need to be versatile and athletic. One effective drill to improve their skills is the 'Route Box' exercise. Divide the tight ends into groups of 3-4 and set up a 10x10 foot box with cones. Place a defender in the box and have the tight ends run a series of routes, focusing on quick releases and sharp cuts. For sets, perform 3 rounds of 30 seconds with 15 seconds rest in between. For reps, aim for 12-15 routes per round. Coaching cues include 'release quickly' and 'stay low.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the tight end's ability to create separation and make plays in traffic. It also enhances their agility and reaction time, making them a more effective red-zone threat.
