Unlocking Tight End Potential: Thompson Warriors' Summer Camp Drill

๐Ÿ“ Thompson WarriorsยทWednesday, July 1, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At the Thompson Warriors' 7A summer camp, tight end players are honing their skills with a critical drill that translates to game performance: the 'Route Box' drill. This exercise targets the TE's ability to quickly read and adjust to defensive coverage. Set up a 10x10 yard box with cones, with a defender at each corner. The TE starts at the center of the box, and on the coach's signal, they must sprint to one of the four corners, using a specific route (e.g., out, in, post, or fade). The defender must react and try to cover the TE. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps, focusing on speed, agility, and quick decision-making. Coaching cues: 'Read the defender, then read the box.' This drill simulates game scenarios, where TEs must rapidly adjust to changing defensive schemes.
