Hoover Buccaneers' Multisport Athlete Eyes College Flag Football Opportunities
Hoover's standout multisport female athlete, junior Emily Wilson, is turning her focus to flag football as she explores college scholarship options. With the inaugural NCAA Division 1 flag football season set to launch in 2028, Wilson is eyeing top programs like the University of Nebraska, led by coaches Liz and Katie Sowers. The Cornhuskers' Power 4 status and Big Ten affiliation make them an attractive destination for top recruits. Wilson is also considering NAIA powerhouse Ottawa University, Kansas, which offers up to 12 scholarships. Additionally, she's been in contact with Keiser University, Florida, and Midland University, Nebraska, both of which have active recruiting efforts. As UT Arlington's NCAA Division 1 flag football program develops, Wilson will monitor their progress. To increase her chances of securing a scholarship, Wilson is working on highlight tapes and attending summer camps at top programs.
