What Coaches Look for on a Junior Day Visit: A Guide for WR Prospects

๐Ÿ“ Hewitt-Trussville HuskiesยทFriday, July 17, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

When attending a junior day visit at a top 7A program like Hewitt-Trussville Huskies, wide receiver prospects should be prepared to showcase their skills and demonstrate their value to the coaching staff. Coaches will evaluate a prospect's ability to separate from defenders, create space, and make plays in traffic. They will also assess a prospect's hands, footwork, and route-running technique. One key metric to focus on is the 3-cone drill, which measures agility and quickness. A prospect who can complete the 3-cone drill in under 7.5 seconds is considered elite. To prepare, WR prospects should practice their footwork, work on their ability to create separation, and study film to improve their route-running technique. By doing so, they can increase their chances of making a strong impression on the coaching staff and potentially earning a scholarship offer.
