Speed and Agility for S Players: The 'L-Cone Shuttle' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Central-Phenix City Red DevilsยทMonday, July 27, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

For S players at 7A programs like Central-Phenix City Red Devils, speed and agility are crucial components of their game performance. One effective drill to improve these skills is the 'L-Cone Shuttle'. The drill involves setting up three cones in an 'L' shape, with the player starting at the top of the 'L'. The player must then shuttle back and forth between the two bottom cones, performing a 5-yard change of direction at each cone. The player should complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'aggressive cuts'. This drill translates to game performance by improving the player's ability to rapidly change direction and accelerate out of cuts, making them a more elusive and effective defender.
