This summer, 7A cornerbacks are putting in the work to be ready for the season. One drill that's making waves at Bryant High is the 'Shadow Shuffle.' It's a simple yet effective way to improve reaction time and footwork. Here's how to run it: Set up 5 cones in a zig-zag pattern, 5 yards apart. Players start at one end, shuffling through the course without looking up. After each rep, they quickly change direction, reacting to a coach's call to 'shadow' a defender. This translates to game performance by allowing CBs to stay in phase with receivers and anticipate their next move. Run 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Coaches, cue your players to 'stay low, stay light' and 'react, don't react late.'
