FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Tight End Power Play

๐Ÿ“ North Little Rock Charging WildcatsยทFriday, July 31, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

For 7A programs like North Little Rock Charging Wildcats, tight end play is crucial to a successful offense. To improve their blocking and receiving skills, we recommend the 'Tight End Power Play' drill. Divide the tight ends into pairs and have them line up 5 yards apart. One player will be the blocker, while the other is the defender. The blocker will start in a 3-point stance and the defender will start in a 2-point stance. On the whistle, the blocker will explode off the line and drive the defender 5 yards downfield. After 3 sets of 10 reps, switch roles and repeat. Coaching cues include 'drive your feet' and 'extend your arms.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the tight end's ability to seal the edge and create a seam for the running back. It also enhances their ability to create separation as a receiver.
