As the University of Nebraska prepares to launch its inaugural NCAA Division 1 flag football season in 2028, local Scottsdale athletes are taking notice. The Cornhuskers, led by head coaches Liz and Katie Sowers, have announced plans to offer scholarships to top talent. For Saguaro Sabercats players, this development presents a concrete opportunity to pursue their passion at the next level. "We're excited about the growth of women's flag football in the state of Arizona," said Sabercats coach. "Our players are eager to learn more about the Nebraska program and how they can be considered for a scholarship." Coaches at Ottawa University, Kansas, and Keiser University, Florida, have also expressed interest in recruiting top Scottsdale talent. Midland University, Nebraska, continues to actively recruit for its NAIA program. Meanwhile, UT Arlington is developing its NCAA Division 1 program, although scholarships have not yet been announced.
