Quarterback Readiness: Huskies' Husky Drill for 6A QBs

๐Ÿ“ Hamilton HuskiesยทSaturday, July 11, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Hamilton Huskies' quarterback coach, Mike Thompson, shares a crucial drill to get 6A QBs ready for the season. The Husky Drill focuses on quick decision-making and accuracy under pressure. Set up five stations: 3-yard line, 5-yard line, 10-yard line, 15-yard line, and a 'red zone' 5-yard line. Divide the QBs into groups of three. At each station, have a receiver run a 5-yard out route. The QB must read the defense and deliver the ball to the receiver within 3 seconds. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps at each station. Coaching cues: 'Read the defense, not the receiver.' 'Deliver the ball to the numbers.' This drill translates to game performance by replicating the quick decisions QBs face in the pocket. It also improves accuracy and ball placement, essential for success in 6A competition.
