FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Chandler Wolves-Style RB Agility Drill

๐Ÿ“ Chandler WolvesยทSunday, July 19, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At 6A programs like the Chandler Wolves, running back agility is crucial for success. To improve RBs' ability to quickly change direction and accelerate out of cuts, we recommend the following drill: "Box Drill". Set up 5 cones in a zig-zag pattern, 5 yards apart. Have the RB start at one end, then perform a 5-yard dash to the first cone, making a sharp cut to the left or right. After the cut, perform a 5-yard dash to the next cone, making another sharp cut. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues: "Quick feet, sharp cut!" and "Accelerate out of the cut!" This drill translates to game performance by improving RBs' ability to make quick decisions and change direction on the fly, allowing them to break tackles and make big plays. By incorporating the Box Drill into their pre-season training, RBs at 6A programs can gain a competitive edge.
