Perry Pumas' Pre-Season OL Drill: Building a Stronger Wall

๐Ÿ“ Perry PumasยทTuesday, July 21, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The Perry Pumas are gearing up for another dominant season in 6A football. To help their linemen prepare, the coaching staff has developed a drill that targets footwork, hand placement, and body positioning. The 'Wall Drill' consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 30-second rest in between sets. Players line up in a 3-point stance, with their feet shoulder-width apart and hands on the ground. On the whistle, they explosively drive their feet into the ground, extending their arms and keeping their elbows locked. Coaches cue players to 'drive through their heels' and 'keep their chest up.' This drill translates to game performance by improving OL's ability to maintain a strong base, generate power, and protect their quarterback. By incorporating this drill into their pre-season routine, the Pumas' OL can expect to be a formidable force on the field.
