Saguaro Sabercats running back Jayden Martin has committed to play for the Southern Methodist University Mustangs. The Class of 2025 standout chose SMU over other offers from Arizona State and Oregon State. Martin's commitment is a significant pickup for the Mustangs, who are looking to bolster their running back depth chart. SMU's offense, which features a pro-style scheme, is a good fit for Martin's skills, and he is expected to compete for playing time immediately. The Mustangs' academic program, which is consistently ranked among the nation's best, also played a role in Martin's decision. Martin had previously committed to Arizona State but reopened his recruitment in April. He is expected to enroll at SMU in January 2025.
