Speed and Agility for S Players: The 'Shuttle to Crossover' Drill

๐Ÿ“ St. John Bosco BravesยทTuesday, July 7, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At Open programs like St. John Bosco Braves, S players are expected to be quick and agile. One drill that can help them develop these skills is the 'Shuttle to Crossover' drill. This drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds of rest between sets. The drill starts with the player lined up at the 5-yard line, facing the 10-yard line. On the coach's signal, the player sprints to the 10-yard line, then immediately turns and runs to the sideline, where they perform a crossover step. The player then returns to the 5-yard line, where they start again. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'stay low.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the player's ability to quickly change direction and cover receivers in space.
