FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Tight End Endurance Drill
At Serra Cavaliers Open programs, Tight End coach, Mike Johnson, emphasizes the importance of endurance for his players. The 'TE Tire Trot' drill is designed to improve stamina and agility. Set up 5-6 tires in a row, spaced 5 yards apart. Players start at one end and must sprint to the first tire, jump over it, and continue to the next tire, repeating for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues include 'Stay low and explosive' and 'Keep your eyes up, track the next tire.' This drill translates to game performance by increasing the TE's ability to stay on the field for extended periods, allowing them to stay in sync with the quarterback and block more effectively. Incorporate this drill into your summer training to give your tight ends a competitive edge.
