Elevate Your Coverage: 5A CB Drill for Eaglecrest Raptors

๐Ÿ“ Eaglecrest RaptorsยทFriday, July 3, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

To improve reaction time and agility for cornerbacks at 5A programs like Eaglecrest Raptors, incorporate the 'Ladder Shuffle-Step' drill into your summer training regimen. Set up a ladder with 5-7 feet between each rung. Players will start in a 3-point stance with their feet shoulder-width apart. On the coach's signal, they will shuffle their feet to the first rung, then step into a defensive position, planting their outside foot and transferring their weight. Repeat this process, shuffling and stepping to each subsequent rung. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. This drill translates to game performance by improving a CB's ability to quickly change direction and maintain balance while covering receivers.
