Raptor Kickoff: Kicker Prep Drill for Eaglecrest Raptors
This summer, Eaglecrest Raptors K players can improve their accuracy and power with a focused kicking drill. The "Target Takedown" drill consists of three sets of 10 reps, alternating between 30-yard and 40-yard kicks. Begin with a 5-minute dynamic warm-up, focusing on leg swings and calf raises. Set up three targets at varying distances: a 30-yard line, a 40-yard line, and a 45-yard line. On each rep, kick into the target, focusing on proper foot strike and follow-through. Coaching cues include: "Strike the laces, don't the toes" and "Keep your eyes on the target." This drill translates to game performance by improving accuracy and building leg strength, essential for long-range kicks. By incorporating this drill into their pre-season routine, Raptors K players can gain a competitive edge.
