Elevate Your Coverage: Valor Christian Eagles' CB Drill for Summer Camp

๐Ÿ“ Valor Christian EaglesยทFriday, July 17, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The Valor Christian Eagles' secondary is known for its shutdown corners, and with this drill, you can help your 5A program's CBs elevate their game. The 'Shuttle-Release' drill targets quick reactions, footwork, and ball skills. Set up four cones in a square, with two cones 5 yards apart and the other two cones 10 yards apart. CBs start at the 10-yard cones, reacting to a quarterback's fake (or a coach's signal). They must quickly close the distance to the 5-yard cones, then release back to the 10-yard cones. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues: 'Fast feet, fast hands' and 'Close, then release.' This drill translates to game performance by replicating the quick decisions and footwork required to stay with receivers in man coverage.
