Crafting a Winning Highlight Tape: A Guide for CB Prospects
As a cornerback prospect at a top L program like Shelton Gaels, creating a standout highlight tape is crucial for catching the attention of college coaches. To structure a compelling tape, focus on showcasing 5-7 plays that demonstrate your skills in the following areas: technique, ball skills, and game sense. Include at least 2 plays where you're covering the opponent's top receiver and 1 play where you're in man-to-man coverage. Use slow-motion replays to highlight your footwork, hip rotation, and ability to stay in phase with the receiver. For example, if you're covering a 6-foot-2 receiver, aim to stay within 2-3 yards of their body throughout the play. Keep your tape concise, 3-5 minutes long, and make sure to include your name, position, and contact information at the beginning.
