Kicker Prep Drill for LL Programs
At Southington High School, our kicking game is a key component of our overall strategy. To prepare our kickers for the upcoming season, we're focusing on a specific drill to improve their accuracy and power. The 'Target Practice' drill involves setting up three targets: a 30-yard goal, a 40-yard goal, and a 50-yard goal. Players will kick from 10 yards deep, aiming for each target in succession. We recommend 3 sets of 10 reps per target, with a 2-minute rest between sets. Coaching cues include keeping the laces parallel to the target and following through with the kicking leg. This drill translates to game performance by simulating the pressure and distance our kickers will face. By practicing under game-like conditions, our kickers will build confidence and develop the skills necessary to succeed in the LL division.
