FridayNightPulse: 'Cheetah Cuts' Drill for Cornerbacks at Middletown Cavaliers

๐Ÿ“ Middletown CavaliersยทWednesday, July 8, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At the Middletown Cavaliers, cornerbacks are working on their speed and agility with the 'Cheetah Cuts' drill. This drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 30-second rest in between sets. The drill starts with the cornerback at the line of scrimmage, then they must quickly change direction, cutting 45 degrees to the left and right, while maintaining top speed. Coaching cues include 'bend and explode' and 'keep your eyes on the ball.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the cornerback's ability to quickly react to the ball and stay in phase with the receiver. The 'Cheetah Cuts' drill also helps build explosive acceleration, which is essential for cornerbacks to stay with faster receivers.
