FridayNightPulse: Defensive End Drill for Dominance
The 'Rush and React' drill is a high-intensity exercise designed to improve defensive end speed, agility, and reaction time. At top programs like Middletown Cavaliers, coaches are using this drill to prepare their DEs for the upcoming season. To run the drill, set up cones in a zig-zag pattern, approximately 10 yards apart. Players will start at one end, sprinting through the course while maintaining a low, explosive stance. Upon reaching the final cone, they must quickly change direction and react to a coach or teammate simulating a quarterback drop. Perform 3 sets of 5 reps, resting 2 minutes between sets. Coaching cues include 'keep your eyes up' and 'stay low.' This drill translates to game performance by improving DEs' ability to quickly close the gap and react to the quarterback's movements.
