Apopka Blue Darters' OLs can elevate their game with the 'Anchor and Roll' drill. This exercise targets footwork, hand placement, and core strength. Set up four cones in a square, with each cone 3 yards apart. OLs start at one cone, then 'anchor' their back foot while rolling their front foot to the adjacent cone. They should keep their back foot planted and their chest up. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps in each direction. Coaches can add resistance bands or a partner to increase difficulty. This drill translates to game performance by improving OLs' ability to quickly change direction and maintain balance in the pocket. It also enhances their ability to generate power and control on blocks.
