FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Cocoa Tigers DE Drill

๐Ÿ“ Cocoa TigersยทWednesday, July 8, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Defensive End (DE) players at 4A programs like Cocoa Tigers need to develop the strength and agility to dominate on the edge. One effective drill to achieve this is the 'Rope Pull and Shuffle.' Set up a series of cones 10 yards apart, with a rope or resistance band attached to a stable anchor point. Have the DE player start in a three-point stance, then explosively pull the rope for 3 seconds before shuffling 5 yards to the next cone. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues include maintaining a tight core and driving through the heels. This drill translates to game performance by improving DEs' ability to generate power and speed off the snap, allowing them to burst through blocks and get to the quarterback.
