FridayNightPulse: 'Shadow Drill' Elevates Lakeland Dreadnaughts Cornerbacks

๐Ÿ“ Lakeland DreadnaughtsยทFriday, July 31, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, Lakeland Dreadnaughts cornerbacks will hone their skills with the 'Shadow Drill'. Coaches will divide players into pairs, with one player as the receiver and the other as the defender. The receiver will run a 5-yard out route, while the defender must mirror their every move, staying 3-4 yards off their hip. The defender will then transition into a 90-degree pivot, turning their back to the receiver and re-establishing their position. This drill will be performed in 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 2-minute rest between sets. Coaches will emphasize staying low, keeping eyes on the receiver, and being 'sticky' in coverage. This drill translates to game performance by teaching cornerbacks to stay patient, read the receiver's body language, and react quickly to changes in direction.
