Power Through Contact: Collins Hill Eagles Running Back Drill
As the Collins Hill Eagles prepare for the upcoming 7A season, their running backs are working on a crucial drill to improve their ability to power through contact. The 'Box Drill' requires players to run through a series of cones, with each cone representing a different level of contact. The first cone is a 'hit' from a defender, the second cone is a 'wrap' from a defender, and the third cone is a 'hit and wrap' from two defenders. Players complete 3 sets of 10 reps, focusing on keeping their legs churning and their upper body protected. The coaching cue is 'drive through it, don't try to avoid it.' This drill translates to game performance by teaching running backs to maintain their speed and balance in the face of contact, allowing them to break tackles and gain extra yards.
