Eagles' Edge: S Players, Get Ready to 'Read and React' with Collins Hill's Summer Sprints

๐Ÿ“ Collins Hill EaglesยทThursday, July 9, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This high-intensity drill is designed to improve the reaction time and agility of Collins Hill's secondary players. Set up a series of 3 cones, spaced 5 yards apart, with a defender at each cone. The quarterback will start at the line of scrimmage and take a 3-step drop, then quickly scan the field and identify a target (cone) to throw to. The defender at that cone must react and close the gap to the receiver. The quarterback will then throw a quick pass to the receiver, who must catch the ball in traffic. Run 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 30-second rest between sets. Coaching cues: 'Read the quarterback's eyes,' 'Close the gap quickly,' and 'Make the play in traffic.' This drill translates to game performance by simulating the quick decisions and reactions required to cover receivers in the open field.
