Milton Eagles RBs: Power Through with the 'Bull in a China Shop' Drill
This explosive strength training drill is designed to improve running back power and agility. Divide the RBs into pairs, with one player wearing a weighted vest or resistance band. The other player will be the 'bull,' aiming to break through the 'china shop' (a series of small cones or markers) while maintaining top speed. The 'bull' must power through the cones, using their legs and core to generate force. Start with 3 sets of 5 reps, increasing to 4 sets of 7 reps as players build endurance. Coaching cues include: 'Drive through the cones,' 'Keep your head up,' and 'Use your legs to explode.' This drill translates to game performance by improving RBs' ability to break tackles and maintain speed through contact. It's a great way to prepare for the physicality of 7A football.
