Power Through Contact: A RB Drill for 7A Programs
For running backs at top-tier 7A programs like the Grayson Rams, dominating in the trenches is crucial. To improve their ability to power through contact, we're introducing the 'Hill Sprints with Tackling' drill. This intense workout will push RBs to their limits and translate to game-day performance. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps: sprinting up a 20-yard hill, then immediately engaging with a tackling dummy or a coach. Focus on maintaining top-end speed while driving through the contact. Coaching cues: 'Keep your feet moving,' 'Drive through the tackle,' and 'Finish strong.' This drill works the RB's legs, core, and mental toughness, all essential for breaking tackles and gaining yards in the red zone. Run this drill 2-3 times a week to see improvements in your RBs' ability to power through contact.
