Flag Football Scholarships Open Up for Texas Athletes in Pilot District Expansion
The GHSA's flag football pilot district expansion is creating new scholarship pathways for Texas athletes. Collins Hill Eagles, a 7A powerhouse from Suwanee, will be part of the inaugural program. College programs such as Ottawa University, Kansas, and Keiser University, Florida, are actively recruiting flag football talent. These NAIA schools offer up to 12 scholarships, providing opportunities for Texas athletes to compete at the national level. For Collins Hill Eagles, this expansion means increased exposure and potential recruitment by Power 4 schools like the University of Nebraska, which will launch its inaugural flag football season in 2028. As the GHSA pilot expands, athletes can take concrete actions to pursue flag football scholarships, including attending summer camps and creating highlight tapes to showcase their skills.
