Flag Football Recruiting Update: New Scholarship Opportunities Emerge for Texas Athletes
As the HHSAA flag football pilot district expansion gains momentum, Texas athletes are taking notice of the new scholarship pathways emerging. The University of Nebraska, led by coaches Liz and Katie Sowers, is set to launch its inaugural 2028 season with Power 4 status. Nebraska offers verified NCAA D1 scholarships for top flag football talent. Meanwhile, Ottawa University, Kansas, a national powerhouse in NAIA flag football, is offering up to 12 scholarships. Keiser University, Florida, and Midland University, Nebraska, are also actively recruiting flag football players. UT Arlington, a developing NCAA D1 program, is expected to offer scholarships in the future. Kamehameha Warriors, an Open Division team from Honolulu, is looking to capitalize on these opportunities. Texas athletes can take concrete steps by researching these programs, creating highlight tapes, and attending summer camps to increase their chances of securing a scholarship.
