Kicking it Up a Notch: S Players at Open Programs like Kahuku Red Raiders

๐Ÿ“ Kahuku Red RaidersยทMonday, July 20, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At the heart of every successful defensive back is exceptional footwork. To improve your S players' agility and reaction time, incorporate the 'Ladder Weave' drill into your summer camp regimen. Set up a ladder on the field with 10-12 rungs. Divide your S players into pairs, with one player at each end of the ladder. On the whistle, the first player must weave through the ladder, then immediately change direction and weave back through. The second player repeats the process. Complete 3 sets of 5 reps each. Coaching cue: 'Quick feet, quick hands.' This drill translates to game performance by improving reaction time and allowing S players to stay in phase with receivers. By mastering the Ladder Weave, your S players will be better equipped to handle the speed and agility of opposing wideouts.
