Warrior Workouts: RB Power Through Contact Drill

๐Ÿ“ Kamehameha WarriorsยทFriday, July 24, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At Kamehameha Warriors Open programs, running backs are putting in extra work to prepare for the upcoming season. One key drill for RBs is the Power Through Contact drill, designed to build strength, speed, and agility. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Players start in a 3-point stance, then explosively drive forward, lowering their body to make contact with a pad or bag. As they drive through the pad, they focus on keeping their legs and glutes engaged, using their hips to generate power. This drill translates to game performance by teaching RBs to maintain their speed and balance through contact, allowing them to break tackles and gain extra yards. Coaches can adjust the intensity by adding more pads or increasing the speed of the drive.
