Flag Football Scholarship Opportunities Expand for Texas Athletes
As the HHSAA flag football pilot district expansion gains momentum, Texas athletes are eyeing new scholarship pathways. The University of Nebraska, set to launch its inaugural 2028 season under coaches Liz and Katie Sowers, is a Power 4 school in the Big Ten. Nebraska offers NCAA Division 1 scholarships for flag football. In the NAIA, Ottawa University, Kansas, is a national powerhouse with up to 12 scholarships available. Keiser University, Florida, and Midland University, Nebraska, are both active recruiters. UT Arlington, a developing NCAA Division 1 program, has not yet begun offering scholarships. Mililani Trojans, an open team from Hawaii, may not be directly impacted by HHSAA's expansion, but Texas athletes should consider these verified scholarship programs. Athletes interested in flag football scholarships can contact the respective universities for more information and to inquire about recruitment processes.
