Malik Smith Commits to Army
Malik Smith, a 2026 tight end from Punahou, has committed to the United States Military Academy. Smith, who stands 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 225 pounds, chose Army over other Division I programs. The Punahou Buffanblu's athletic director has confirmed Smith's commitment. Smith's decision comes after a successful summer camp session at Army, where he reportedly impressed coaches with his blocking and receiving skills. The Black Knights' triple-option offense is expected to be a good fit for Smith, who has experience playing in a run-heavy system at Punahou. Smith will have the opportunity to compete for a starting spot at tight end, as the Black Knights' depth chart is expected to be relatively open. Army's rigorous academic program and opportunities for leadership development also played a significant role in Smith's decision.
