Sprint Out Drill for 4A S Backs: Dowling Catholic Maroons Prep
For S players at 4A programs like Dowling Catholic Maroons, speed and agility are crucial. To improve their game performance, we recommend the Sprint Out Drill. This drill targets acceleration, deceleration, and change of direction. Set up cones in a zig-zag pattern, 5 yards apart. Players start at the first cone, sprinting to the second, then immediately decelerate to a stop. From there, they change direction and sprint to the third cone. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'Fast feet, slow hands' and 'Quick turnover.' This drill translates to game performance by improving S backs' ability to quickly change direction and accelerate out of their breaks, making them more effective tacklers and ball carriers.
