Tight End Tune-Up: Dowling Catholic Maroons' Summer Drill to Dominate the Endzone

๐Ÿ“ Dowling Catholic MaroonsยทFriday, July 10, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

As the Dowling Catholic Maroons prepare for the upcoming 4A season, their coaching staff has designed a drill to refine the skills of their tight ends. The 'Endzone Box Drill' targets the crucial combination of speed, agility, and hands. Set up a 10x10 foot box with cones, with a defender and a quarterback at each corner. The TE starts at the edge of the box, sprints to the middle, then accelerates to the corner, where they must shield and catch a pass from the QB. Complete 3 sets of 5 reps. Coaching cues: 'Quick feet, fast hands, and seal the defender.' This drill translates to game performance by simulating the high-pressure situations tight ends face, such as contested catches and blocking in traffic.
