Rams Ramp Up: Building Power in the Trenches with the 'Med Ball Slam'

๐Ÿ“ Southeast Polk RamsยทFriday, July 31, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

As Southeast Polk Rams prepare for the upcoming season, their 4A linemen are focusing on building raw power and strength. One key drill that's been added to their summer camp routine is the 'Med Ball Slam.' This explosive exercise targets the entire upper body, with a focus on the shoulders, back, and core. Players will perform 3 sets of 10 reps, using a 20-pound medicine ball. Coaching cues include: 'Slam it down, don't throw it,' and 'Keep your core tight, generate power from your legs.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the ability to explosively drive block opponents and maintain leverage in the trenches.
