Route Running for 4A WRs: Cedar Falls Tigers' Summer Camp Focus
As the Cedar Falls Tigers prepare for the upcoming 4A season, their wide receivers are putting in the work at summer camp. One key drill that's helping them develop their route running skills is the '5-Route Circuit'. This high-intensity workout consists of 3 sets of 5 reps each, with 30 seconds of rest in between. The drill starts with a 10-yard sprint to a designated spot, where the receiver must quickly change direction and run a 5-yard out route. Next, they'll run a 5-yard in route, followed by a 5-yard slant, a 5-yard deep post, and finally a 5-yard fly route. Coaches are emphasizing the importance of quick footwork, sharp cuts, and precise hand placement. By mastering this drill, WRs will be better equipped to create separation and make big plays on the field.
