FridayNightPulse: 5A Linebacker Drill - 'The Circle of Chaos'

๐Ÿ“ Boise BraveยทTuesday, July 14, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At 5A programs like the Boise Brave, linebackers need to be prepared for the physical and mental demands of the game. One drill that can help is 'The Circle of Chaos', a dynamic movement exercise that simulates the fluidity of a defensive scheme. To set up the drill, have your linebackers stand in a circle with cones or markers. On the coach's signal, they must quickly change direction, moving from a defensive stance to a pass rush stance and back again, while maintaining a high level of intensity. Perform 3 sets of 30 seconds, with 30 seconds rest in between. Coaching cues include 'move, move, move' and 'change direction, change direction'. This drill translates to game performance by improving agility, reaction time, and the ability to read and react to the offense.
