Boise Brave OLs Get Ready for Season with the 'Wall Drill'
The Boise Brave's 5A football program is gearing up for a strong season, and their OLs are putting in the work with the 'Wall Drill'. This intense exercise targets the strength, agility, and coordination needed to dominate on the line. The drill involves OLs lining up 10 yards apart, with a defender in a 3-point stance. On the coach's signal, the OL must explode off the line, drive through the defender, and reach the 'wall' (a marker or cone 5 yards beyond the defender). The OL must then quickly change direction, returning to the starting position. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Coaching cues: 'Drive, drive, drive!' and 'Change direction, change direction!' This drill translates to game performance by improving OLs' ability to quickly engage and disengage from defenders, allowing for more effective blocking and pass protection.
