Rocky Mountain Grizzlies DEs: Master the 'Rip and Rebound' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Rocky Mountain GrizzliesยทWednesday, July 29, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The 'Rip and Rebound' drill is a game-changer for 5A defensive end players like the Rocky Mountain Grizzlies. This drill focuses on speed, agility, and power. Set up four cones in a square formation, with one cone in the center. DEs start at the top of the square, then 'rip' through the cones, focusing on explosive acceleration. As they reach the center cone, they 'rebound' by quickly changing direction and bursting back through the cones. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'rip like a cheetah' and 'rebound like a spring.' This drill translates to game performance by improving DEs' ability to quickly close gaps and change direction, making them more effective pass rushers and run defenders.
