What Coaches Look for on Junior Day Visits: A Guide for CB Prospects

๐Ÿ“ Brother Rice CrusadersยทThursday, July 2, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

When attending a junior day visit at an 8A program like Brother Rice, cornerbacks need to be prepared to showcase their skills and demonstrate their potential as a Division I recruit. Coaches are looking for players who can excel in a fast-paced, physical game. To stand out, CBs should focus on demonstrating their ability to cover receivers in man-to-man coverage and their ball-hawking skills in zone coverage. One key metric coaches will evaluate is a cornerback's 'turnover percentage,' or the number of interceptions and passes defensed per 100 snaps. To improve this metric, CBs should work on their footwork, staying low and balanced, and being able to quickly change direction to stay with receivers. By showcasing these skills and metrics, CBs can make a lasting impression on coaches and increase their chances of earning a scholarship offer.
