FridayNightPulse Training Tip: St. Rita Mustangs RB Drill

๐Ÿ“ St. Rita MustangsยทMonday, July 13, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, St. Rita Mustangs running backs can dominate on Friday nights with the 'Mustang Mash' drill. In this intense workout, players will perform 3 sets of 10 reps of a 10-yard shuttle run with a 20-pound weight vest. As they approach the 5-yard mark, they'll quickly change direction and accelerate towards the finish line. Coaching cues include 'explosive cut' and 'stay low.' This drill translates to game performance by improving RBs' ability to quickly change direction and accelerate in tight spaces, a crucial skill for breaking tackles and making big plays in the open field. By incorporating the 'Mustang Mash' into their training regimen, St. Rita RBs will be ready to take on the best of the Chicago Catholic League this fall.
