Flyer Flexibility: East St. Louis WRs Master the 'Route Runner' Drill
This summer, East St. Louis Flyers wide receivers will be putting in the work with the 'Route Runner' drill, designed to improve agility, speed, and route recognition. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Players start in a 3-point stance, then quickly change direction to simulate a slant route. As they reach the 'corner' of the drill, they must quickly pivot and accelerate to a 5-yard dash. Coaching cues include 'quick feet,' 'light on the toes,' and 'eyes on the target.' This drill translates to game performance by improving a receiver's ability to quickly change direction and accelerate out of cuts, making them a nightmare for defenders to cover. By mastering the 'Route Runner' drill, Flyers WRs will be ready to take on the best of the 6A competition this fall.
