The IHSAA's pilot district expansion for girls flag football in Texas is creating new pathways for Westfield Shamrocks players to secure scholarships. As the inaugural 2028 season approaches at the University of Nebraska, led by coaches Liz and Katie Sowers, Shamrocks athletes are focusing on verified scholarship programs. Ottawa University, Kansas, is a national powerhouse offering up to 12 scholarships, while Keiser University, Florida, and Midland University, Nebraska, are actively recruiting. UT Arlington, a developing NCAA D1 program, is also a potential destination for Texas athletes. Shamrocks players can take concrete steps by researching these programs, attending summer camps, and creating highlight tapes to showcase their skills.
