FridayNightPulse: Westfield Shamrocks LB Drill - 'Boxer Shuffle' for Speed and Agility

๐Ÿ“ Westfield ShamrocksยทThursday, July 2, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The 'Boxer Shuffle' drill is a high-intensity exercise designed to improve linebacker speed, agility, and reaction time. At 5A programs like Westfield Shamrocks, this drill can be a game-changer. To set up, divide the field into 10x10 yard squares. LBs start in the center square, then shuffle to one corner, drop down into a defensive stance, and immediately jump up to shuffle to the opposite corner. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues: 'Shuffle, drop, jump!' and 'Fast feet, fast hands!' This drill translates to game performance by improving LBs' ability to quickly change direction and cover ground, making them more effective in pursuit and coverage. By incorporating the 'Boxer Shuffle' into their pre-season training, Westfield Shamrocks LBs can gain a competitive edge.
