Cade Thomas: Cathedral's New Face of the Offense
Cade Thomas, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound quarterback, threw for 242 yards and two touchdowns in his Cathedral debut, a 7-on-7 tournament in June. The Class of 2026 signal-caller transferred from out-of-state and has quickly become the Fighting Irish's top option under center. Thomas's ability to read defenses and make quick decisions has impressed coaches and teammates alike. His accuracy and arm strength have been on full display during summer camps, and he's shown a willingness to take shots down the field. As a transfer, Thomas will face scrutiny from opposing defenses, but his poise and confidence in the pocket should serve him well. Scouts are watching to see how Thomas adapts to the 5A competition in the IHSAA, particularly in the passing game, where he'll be asked to stretch the defense and make plays outside of the hashes. His ability to extend plays with his legs and make throws on the run will also be key in his development as a starting quarterback.
