Warrior Block Party: A Drilling Technique for 6A OL Dominance

๐Ÿ“ Warren Central WarriorsยทThursday, July 9, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

As the Warren Central Warriors prepare for another 6A season, it's essential to develop the skills of their linemen. One drill that can help OL players dominate on the field is the 'Double Team Block Drill.' This drill focuses on the coordination and timing between two blockers, mimicking the chaos of a real game scenario. To set up: pair two OL players at the line of scrimmage, with one player as the 'lead blocker' and the other as the 'secondary blocker.' On the coach's signal, the lead blocker will take a 3-yard drop to the left while the secondary blocker takes a 3-yard drop to the right. The objective is to meet in the middle, creating a wall for the defender. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, focusing on proper footwork and hand placement. This drill translates to game performance by teaching OL players to work together, creating holes for the RB and protecting the QB from incoming pressure.
