FridayNightPulse: Power Through Contact with the Center Grove Trojans' RB Drill

๐Ÿ“ Center Grove TrojansยทWednesday, July 15, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At 6A powerhouse Center Grove, running backs are put through a rigorous drill to develop the strength and technique needed to power through contact. The 'Tackle Trap' drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps. Players start in a 3-point stance, then explosively drive forward, lowering their body to absorb contact. As they hit the 'tackler,' they immediately shift their weight to one leg and drive back to the original position. Coaching cues include 'elbows in, chest up' and 'trap the defender.' This drill translates to game performance by teaching RBs to maintain balance and generate power through their legs, allowing them to break tackles and gain extra yards.
